Lunchtime Leagues:

At the start of October we started our lunchtime league competition. This football competition involves boys and girls from 3rd class up to 6th class. There were eight teams (each named after a county in Ireland) split into two groups playing off against each other to reach a play-off position. Unfortunately the weather has been against us recently, but with one group game left to play it looks like Dublin, Kerry, Mayo and Tyrone are favourites to go through to the semi-finals. We hope to play the last few matches this week in the complex where the weather won’t effect us. Many thanks to the Parents’ Association for providing the winners’ trophies again this year. After a very exciting and sporting competition Mayo defeated Tyrone in the final.

School Football Team:

The school football team  participated in the North Cork Primary Schools B1 Football Final. To get to this stage we travelled to Buttevant to beat ButtevantN.S. and then beat both Ballyhea N. S. and BallycloughN.S. at home in Glantane pitch. This meant that we qualified to meet St. Joseph’s C.B.S. Doneraile in the final in Mallow on Friday 26th October. The team showed great courage to prevail on the day and come away with the trophy. The man of the match award going to Colm O’Shea for which he received a trophy at an awards evening in Mallow later in the month.

Sports Day

June is the month for our Sports Day. We have a fully inclusive day of fun for the children where they partake in fun sport activities with the whole school. The emphasis is on participation and inclusion, not competition.
